(1. )Religious and social causes :

A. mass conservation to Christianity : in the schools set up by the Christian missionaries the teaching of Christians doctrines was made compulsory. The Bible was taught all the institutions including in government schools.

B. Abolition of social custom and traditions. the practice of sati was abolished, polygamy child marriage and infanticide were prohibited widow remarried was legalized so the pandits began to raise the cry our religion and customs are in grave danger.

C. introduction of telegraph and railways : the English introduce telegraph and railways in India to quicken their administrative work in an eminent way.

(2.) Economic Exploitation of india :

1. The British enriched themselves as the cost of the Indians India's wealth was carried away by them.

2. Indians economy was subordinate to meet the needs of the British trade and industry.

3. Heavy duties were levied on Indian goods which were exported.

4. as lord William bentinck took the land free states from Bengal land lords they become unrest and discontent .

5. The annexation politics of the British left lakhs and lakhs of soldiers and officers unemployed who joined the revolt.................
