Answer:

  • Harshacharita written by Banabhatta and an account of Hieun Tsang was the major source of information about Harsha's period. The period of Harsha is well proved in Harshacharitra written by Banabhatta. The jottings of Chinese scholar Hiuen- Tsang who visited Harsha’s court also give great detail about Harsha and India of Harsha’s time.
  • The Harshacharita written by Bana who lived at the court of Harsha is generally honored as a literal document to throw a flood tide of light on the political, social and religious condition of India during his time. Harsha himself was a pen of high standard.
  • His three precious workshop named ‘ Ratnavali ’, ‘ Priyadarsika ’ and ‘ Nagananda ’ written in Sanskrit reveal his erudite flare. There are three eulogies — Madhuban Plate, Sonepat plate and the Bankkhera necrology which are immensely precious.
  • The Madhuban plates speak much on the family of Harsha and the Sonepat plates disclose the names and reign of numerous lords of the dynasty. The Bankkhera necrology confirms that Harsh was an effective sovereign and artsman.
