RNA or Ribonucleic acid gets its name from its two main constituents- ribose sugar and phosphoric acid. It is usually a single-stranded macromolecule and consists of 4 N-bases- Adenine, Uracil, Guanine and Cytosine. Uracil replaces Thymine here which comes in DNA. In most viruses, it acts as the main genetic material and has the primary functional role in protein synthesis in non-viral (i.e: higher) life forms.
