Here is the answer.....!!

→ Three characteristic features of phloem are :

1)
The phloem is the plant's food transportation system.

2)
The phloem is made up of living tissue.

3)
Phloem vessels are involved in translocation

4)
Phloem is composed of several cell types including sclerenchyma, parenchyma, sieve elements and companion cells.

→ Three functions of phloem are:

1) Phloem tissue transports and distributes sucrose and nutrients produced by the plant during photosynthesis.

2) Phloem  help in transportation of food materials, water, minerals from one part of the body to other.

3) The phloem transports food for the plant made by the leaves also known as glucose in the form of sucrose.

The three characteristic features and three functions of phloem are explained below:

Three characteristic features of phloem are:

  • Phloem is found in plants and is an important tissue.
  • Phloem consists of 4 types of cells phloem parenchyma, sieve tube, companion cells and phloem fibres.
  • Phloem is responsible for translocation unidirectionally.

The three functions of phloem are:

  • Phloem is the vascular tissue of the plant and is responsible for the conduction of food material from leaves to another part of the plant.
  • The parenchyma of phloem stores water, carbohydrates and other proteins.
  • Phloem fibres provide strength and pliability.
