1. The most important aspect Secularism is the separation of religion from the State.
2. This is basically to respect all religious groups.
3. To prevent majority religion from dominating minority.
4. As also to safeguard religious interests of all the religious groups.
5. To prevent tyranny of the majority and any act of discrimination, religious persecution of the minority.
6. It is on that aspect ,Indian Secularism is based on the principle of Equal respect for all religions, where State respects every religious community and their sentiments. The principle of Secularism forms the bedrock of our democratic society as it
a. Indian state does not establish any religion as a state religion.
b. Indian secularism practises an attitude of a principled and equal distance from all religions
c. It grantees right to freedom of religion to all. Everybody is allowed freely profess, propagate preach religion of his/her choice.
d. The state does not favour any particular religion, nor it promotes any particular religion.
e. There shall not be any religious instruction being imparted in government educational institutions.
Right to religion thus, lays down the basis of Secularism in our country allowing all to practise religion of their choice. Such a right also protects the interests of minorities .
