Hey!
______________
Nutrition is the process of taking in the food and utilising it in various biological activities.
Importance of nutrition -:
• Our body needs continuous supply of energy which is using in various biological activities.
• It helps in formation of enzymes and hormones that helps in the regulation of metabolism.
• Food helps in the formation d important defence system or the body.
• Food helps to replace and repair damaged body structures.
Types of nutrition -:
• Autotrophic nutrition
• Heterotrophic nutrition
Let's learn about them -:
• Autotrophic nutrition - It is made of nutrition in which the organism prepares it's own food with the help of simple inorganic raw material. Example - Green plants
Types of autotrophic nutrition -
- Photoautotrophic nutrition
- Chemoautotrophic nutrition
-: Photoautotrophic nutrition -
All the green plants and bacteria trap the solar energy and use it for synthesizing their food from simple raw materials like CO2 and H2O and this process is known as photosynthesis. Chlorophyll pigment is present in the plants which traps the solar energy and make it available for the plants.
-: Chemoautotrophic nutrition -
Some bacteria can capture the energy released during different chemical reaction and they use this energy to synthesise their food and do not require sunlight. These organisms are known as Chemoautotrophs and this type of nutrition is called Chemoautotrophic nutrition.
• Heterotrophic nutrition - It is mode of nutrition in which the organism obtain their food from other dead or living organisms.
The organisms having the Heterotrophic mode of nutrition are called hetrotrophs. Hetrotrophs can obtain their food from other organisms in three different ways -:
- Saprophytic nutrition
- Parasitic nutrition
- Holozoic nutrition
-: Saprophytic nutrition -
It is a type of nutrition in which the organism obtain it's food from dead and decaying matter of plants and animals. This type of nutrition is found in some bacteria fungi such as mushroom.
-: Parasitic nutrition -
It is a type of nutrition in which the organism live on or inside the body of other living organism which is known as host.
Example -
Plant parasite , Cuscuta
Animal parasite , Plasmodium
Depending upon the location of the body of the host, parasites are of two types -
Ectoparasite ( External parasite)
Endoparasite (Internal parasite)
-: Holozoic nutrition - The mode of Heterotrophic nutrition in which organism feed on solid organic material.
THAT'S ALL!!!

Nutrition is the process of intake of nutrients and its utilization by an organism in various biological activities. These are two types of nutrition:
Hetrotrophic Nutrition = The term heterotroph is derived from the Greek word Heteromeaning different or other, and trophmeaning nutrition.
In this mode of nutrition, organisms obtain energy from the intake of complex organic substances, generally from plant and animal sources. All fungi and animals, and some bacteria are heterotrophs.
Autotrophic Nutrotion = The term autotroph is derived from the Greek word Automeaning self and trophmeaning nutrition.
In this mode of nutrition, organisms prepare or synthesize their own food with the help of inorganic raw materials. All green plants and some bacteria are autotrophs.
