There are 3 types of plastid, namely, •
•Chloroplast are responsible for photosynthesis, they contain chlorophyll.
•Chromoplast are a place where the pigments are stored and synthesised in the plant. They are found in the flowering plants. One of the main reasons of the structure and colour is to attract pollinators.
•Gerontoplasts are chloroplasts going through aging process. These are chloroplasts of the leaves that are beginning to be repurposed, since the leaf is no longer utilising photosynthesis.
•Leucoplasts have no colour and are found in non-photosynthetic parts of plant, such as root. They are more readily used for synthesising Amino acids and Fatty acids.
They are of further 3 types-
•Amyloplasts
•Proteinoplasts
•Elaioplasts

Following are the three types of plastids :
- chloroplasts plastids.
- Leucoplasts plastids.
- Chromoplasts plastids.
- Chloroplasts - The main function of chloroplast plastids is photosynthesis.
- Leucoplasts - The functions of Leucoplasts plastids is storage. Storage of starch ,lipids or protein.
- Chromoplasts - The function of Chromoplasts plastids is pigment synthesis and storage.
