The laboratory thermometer must be used to determine “the melting point of the ice in laboratory”.

In laboratory for the determination of melting point of ice, first we have to use a glass rod to stir that can supply the heat uniformly.

The uniform distribution of heat makes an even mixture of ice and water. After that to check the temperature the bulb of the thermometer should be kept in a way that it touches only the crushed ice. There should be no contact between the thermometer bulb and the wall of beaker.
