There are four types of elections in India.
They are; General Lok Sabha Elections, Assembly Elections of the state, Rajya Sabha Elections and Presidential Elections.
The General Elections are conducted every 5 years in all the states of India for electing the members of Lok Sabha and the Prime Minister.
The Assembly Elections are held every 5 years and in a particular state assembly for the election of Members of Legislative Assembly and the Chief Minister for the state.
Rajya Sabha elections are indirect and the legislative assemblies of states and Union Territories take part in it for the election of the Members of Rajya Sabha. Out of the 250 members, 12 are nominated by
The President of India. Presidential Election are also indirect elections where the elected members of Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and State Assemblies take part to elect a candidate for the post of President.
