The infoldings or inward projections of inner membrane of mitochondria are called cristae. They increase the surface area for chemical reactions to occur like cellular respiration.
F1 particles of cristae have some oxidative enzymes called oxysomes. These oxysomes help in aerobic respiration and produce energy in form of ATP.
