Mention the various types of cases which can be considered in the supreme court

The Supreme Court of India is the protector, defender and guardian of the Constituion.It considers cases related to criminal and civil matters.

1.The Supreme Court can hear some cases for the first time directly, if any individual feels that an Act or action by the individual or State violates his Fundamental Right.

2.The Supreme Court settles disputes involving any question of law or fact between the Union or the State Government and the state among themselves.

3.The Supreme Court hears appeals against the decision of the High court where the High Court needs to certify that the case involves a substantial question of law and needs Constitutional interpretation.

4.The Supreme Court also hears appeals in criminal matters against the decision of the high court as it has ben given a special power by the parliament to do so.

5.The Supreme Court judgements are taken as case laws and used as reference by the lower courts in dealing with cases.
