Hi there!

Coal :-

*Coal is mainly used in thermal power plants to produce electricity. It is also used as domestic fuel for cooking in remote Indian villages. It is also used as applications of coarse filters in chemical industry. It is used as a source of heat in coal fired boilers. The most significant uses of coal are in electricity generation, steel production, cement manufacturing and as a liquid fuel. Steam coal - also known as thermal coal - is mainly used in power generation.

Petroleum:-

*Transportation, defense, technology, industry, commerce, research and development and many other facets of human activities are directly or indirectly linked with the use of petroleum or its sub-products. It provides fuel for heat and lighting, lubricants for machinery and raw material for a number of manufacturing industries. It mainly provides fuel to run all the types of vehicles enabling us an easy transportation.

Hope this helps you!!

Thank you.
