there r several ways by which rusting can be prevented:-
1)by oiling-metal are prevented from rusting by applying oil on them
2)by greasing-we can also apply grease on them for prevention
3)by painting- they can also be prevented by applying paint on them
then the contact of metal from the air and moisture is cut off

1)Galvanization with Zinc
2)Painting
3)Applying Grease or Oil
4)Chromium Plating
5)Keeping from moisture and air.
