An English-medium education system is one that uses English as the primary medium of instruction—particularly where English is not the mother tongue of the students. English language had been introduced in India by Britishers. Now, knowing English has becomevital for the following reasons:

1.

It is the language of computers.

2.

It is the language of business across globe.

3.

It is the language of Science and it is the language the world speaks. Lack of fluency in English can be a huge hindrance in the future.

In English medium schools, early introduction of this language help to build comfort with language.

Sometimes parents do over emphasize English language. Its not a good idea. The bottom line is that we need to teach our kids in English because it is vital for their future and for that we must start early. All this is great, but we still need to consider that children learn at their own pace. Also English is not the only thing that they have to learn at school. So we need to strike the right balance in introducing the kids to a new language.

Advantages of English medium school

An English medium school provides following things

1.

English teaching(standard of teaching far better than government run schools)

2.

Computer Education(better than those provided in government run schools)

3.

Number of extra-curricular activities (sports like swimming, horse riding, table tennis, government run schools do not provide all these)

Here i am not criticising government run schools, but these are few advantages of English medium schools. Teachers in government schools are helpless as the infrastructure of these schools are poor. The strength of the classes are usually beyond accommodation in a single room. Quality of education needs to be improved in these schools so that parents need not face big holes in their pockets by paying fat school fees.
