there are never one, two or three causes for any dominant man or government to give up. But what I think the main three cause which will try to cover whole cause,are-

1. world war 2, where Hitler had huge dominance on european countries as because he was some kind sociopath and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose INA had took his support plus Japan, and burma support to take some military action against Britisher in order to gain independence.

2. It was the influence of Gandhi and other political people's movement which started with non violence in 1917 but ended with violent protest in order to gain independence for example quit India movement, Indian navy mutiny etc.

3. Britisher lost most of their finance,army and goods in WW2 and to rule more countries they need to establish themselves first plus they also need to satisfy the Crown. China, mynamar too got independence in year 1948.
