metals: iron is used for making automobiles; machinery, nails etc. gold and silver are used in jewelry making. Copper is used for making electrical wires. Aluminium is used in making electrical cables, packaging, cooking utensils etc.

Non-metals: oxygen is used for breathing. Graphite is used in making pencil leads. Nitrogen is used in making fertilizers. Phosphorus is used in fire cracker and matchstick.
