Assam Population 2011As per details from Census 2011, Assam has population of 3.12 Crores, an increase from figure of 2.67 Crore in 2001 census. Total population of Assam as per 2011 census is 31,205,576 of which male and female are 15,939,443 and 15,266,133 respectively. In 2001, total population was 26,655,528 in which males were 13,777,037 while females were 12,878,491. The total population growth in this decade was 17.07 percent while in previous decade it was 18.85 percent. The population of Assam forms 2.58 percent of India in 2011. In 2001, the figure was 2.59 percent. 

Recently as per Assam census data, 87.92% houses are owned while 6.84% were rented. In all, 74.13% couples in Assam lived in single family. In 2011, 44.09% of Uttar Pradesh population had access to Banking and Non-Banking Finance Corporation. Only 1.57% of Uttar Pradesh population had internet facility which is likely to improve in 2021 due to Jio. 3.77% of family in Uttar Pradesh owned car while 10.15% owned two wheller.   • The migration of immigrants in Assam is the major reason for the increase in population. A large number of refugees from the Eastern side of Pakistan have migrated to Assam which has led to increase in population.
  • Natural causes such as a decrease in the death rate and increase in birth rate are the reasons for the increase in population.
