The littoral forest has warm , wet climatic conditions and rainfall is about 200cm . Littoral and Swamp forests are also called wetland forests. Climatic conditions are wet and rainfall about 150-200 cm.

Two conditions required for the growth of Littoral forest are:  

   (A) Highly saline water  

   (B) High amount of water should be present at regular intervals of time  

These forests are evergreen forests. Trees here have specialised roots such as prop roots which help the tree draw oxygen rich air. Such roots have developed since the actual roots are submerged in water most of the times. In India, these forests are present in deltas of "Ganga, Mahanadi, Godavari and Krishna". Sundari trees and crocodiles are common to these forests.
