Answers
Answer:
Britain used India as a source of raw materials
for its industries. In turn it flooded Indian
markets with cheap goods from Britain. As
a result, Indian industries suffered a steep
decline and millions became jobless. The land
revenue systems introduced by the British
were another major cause of discontent.
The Permanent Settlement of Bengal fixed
the revenue at such high levels that not only
poor peasants but even zamindars found
it difficult to pay. The defaulters’ land was
taken away and these peasants became
landless and jobless and were driven to be
bonded labourers.
Explanation:
Policies laid down by Britishers in colonial India were :-
The Britishers introduced in zamindari system of land revenue. In this system a new class emerged as zamindar or landowners. they used to collect extensive taxes from the peasant class. This discriminatory system through the peasants in chronic poverty.
The British imposed such important export duty which benefited only their market and was discriminatory in Indian market's favour .
These policies resulted in making India a raw material exporting nation and finished goods importing nation.
