Answers
Bengal, Bihar and Orissa were included in the presidency of Bengal initially and was the largest province in India at that time. The British Governor of Bengal at that time, Lord Curzon partitioned Bengal in two provinces on 16th October 1905. It separated the Hindus and Muslims living in Bengal.
The anti-partition movement that followed after, was mainly composed of the Hindus and two main impacts of the movement were :-
- British goods were boycotted by all the Hindus in the market and Swadeshi movement and goods were embraced.
- The agitation or sense of revolt that was created spread to all around India which led to strong desire for Independace and end of British rule among all the Indians.
The anti-partition movement of Bengal had various impacts.
They were:
1. The movement attracted large masses of people into politics of the state. It brought people together irrespective of caste, creed, colour and gender.
2. The ideas of Swadeshi and Boycott were used jointly. The people realised that for one to be successful the other should also be practised.
3. Indians started to agitate against British more as they realised that they were not fair and had hidden intentions.
