I’m guessing you’re talking about high mountains like those stratovolcanoes or high alpine mountains. In that case, you could have problems with rain shadows. Rain shadows occur when a high enough mountain blocks moisture-rich clouds from passing to the other side of the ridge. This causes one side of the mountain to be wet and the other to be dry.

Mountains can also be a hazard. A mountain in a tectonic zone may be prone to landslides caused by earthquakes. If its in a snowy area, the mountain may create deadly avalanches.

In all honesty, mountains aren’t really that detrimental, they really only pose a threat in a few situations. The main reason they are disadvantages would be because of someone wants to develop the land but there is a mountain sitting in the spot where they want to build.
