Project Tiger is one of the most important projects which is started by the government of India in during the tenure of Indira Gandhi while she was acting as the Prime Minister of India. The main aim of the project is to conserve and increase the amount of Tigers in India. And they were extremely successful in doing so. The amount of Tigers in India has usually increased from few hundreds in numbers in the sanctuaries and now stands at 2240 number of tigers in the various sanctuaries of the India.
The reason for the success is that government was able to track the poachers and give extreme punishment and thus reducing the amount of Tiger killing in the country.
