The two ways of fixation of carbon-dioxide are as follows :

(i) By the process of photosynthesis.

The plants utilize the carbon - dioxide from the atmosphere in order to prepare food in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll. This process is called photosynthesis .

Plants may store food or utilize it for their consumption . The products of photosynthesis are glucose and the oxygen is given out in the atmosphere.

(ii) Respiration of certain organisms

Certain anaerobic bacteria utilize the carbon-dioxide from the air to respire.

It is also found that marine organism use carbon-dioxide for their shells.Note that the carbon-dioxide in this case is dissolved in water.

Hope it helps !
