Despite being an agriculture country with world-famous food, many of the vegetables and fruits consumed in India are actually of non-Indian Origin. Some of them were brought in ancients times while many were brought in my Portuguese and English colonizers in the 18-19th century.
Some examples include:
- Tea, From China by the British
- Coffee, from Yemen by the British
- Lychee, from China
- Chilies, Bell pepper, Cauliflower from South America by the Portuguese
- Potato, Maize, Corn from South America
- Carrot, cabbage, Beetroot
- Apples by the English
