Answer:
The steps taken by sri lankan govt. to achieve majooritarianism are :-1. In 1956, an act was passed to recognise Sinhala as the official language thus disregarding Tamil.2. The government followed preferential policies that favoured sinhala applicants for universities positions and government jobs.3. A new constitution stipulated that the state shall protect and foster Buddhism.4. The demand for new state, Tamil as an offficial language, equality for jobs and for regional autonomy were made by tamils , which were repeatedly denied.5. This resulted in feeling of alienation among tamils . This finally resulted to a civil war where thousands of people of both communities were killed.
