Let the CP be x.
Loss = 1/11 of x = x/11.
SP will be CP -loss = x-x/11 = 10x/11
As per the question,
10x/11 = 1000
x= 1000*11/10 = 1100.
So, cost price of chair = Rs 1100.

Let the cost price of the chair be Rs. x
Selling Price= Rs. 1000
Loss =
 \frac{1}{11}  \times x =  \frac{x}{11}
Therefore,
x  -  \frac{x}{11} = 1000
Or,
 \frac{11x - x}{11}  = 1000
Or,
 \frac{10x}{11}  = 1000
Or,
x =  \frac{1000 \times 11}{10}
Or,
x = 1100
Therefore, the Cost Price of the chair was Rs. 1100
