Gratiano says that he wants to be a joker so that he grows old by laughing and by being joyful.Then he says that he could damage his liver by drinking wine but he can't be sad . A person who is young and alive then why is he sitting like the statue of his grandfather in the grave. He says that there are kind of men who remain quiet so that people think that they speak only if it is necessary and so that people have high opinion about them. And they remain quite because they know that if they start speaking others will come to know that they are the people who speak nonsense. Gratiano recommends Antonio that he should not become a man of such kind.
