Salarino is commenting on Antonio's melancholy. He wants to comfort his friend. He elaborates his view in a lengthy speech describing vividly a ship being tossed by the sea waves and getting stuck in shallow waters or overturning after a collision with dangerous rocks .Salarino distinguished between two men , one set who are always melancholic and others. who are always laughing and chattering.
