First of all this types of liquid is released in case of broken of item in which this liquids contains then you should give it to a chimist or if you know how to destroy it then under the supervision of expert you can destroy it. In case thermometer is broken and mercury fall on the floor then collect it with the help of suction or injection (specially made to consume this type of liquids) and then put it in a test tube and tightlye sealed it with a lable do not open then you can give it to a chemist or a lab expert (one who do all experiments with the help of toxic liquids). Now all you work is done and the only thing to do is clean the floor properly where mercury is fallen with salt water.
