The 82o30' East longitude is taken as Standard Time Meridian of India, as it passes through the middle of India (Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh). Indian Standard Time: GMT + 05:30

82'30E is taken as a standard meridian of india
because when there was not any standard meridian then whwn ever where we go outside then there was difference of 4 minutes in each longitude...so thats why to make the time equal on every state then they have choosen the standard meridian of india.....
