merit ...get to know about
nucleus, movement of the electrons, protons and neutrons, most of the space is vacant in the atom
demerit
loss of energy die to acceleration so after some electrons will fall on nucleus,he cannt exolai spectra

hello
•Demerit:
*.It could not explain line spectra of atom.
*.It could not explain stability of anatom because this model does not obey Maxwell law of electrodynamics. According to Maxwell electron should continuous emit radiationand thus and gradually lose energy , so its distance fromnucleus should become shorter and finally it should fall into the nucleus. However this never happen
•merit:
*rutherford discovered the prescence of nucleus in atom by his experiment.
* Rutherford assumed that most of the atom is hallow and small centre point called nucleus.
* he imagined that electrons revolve around nucleus like planets around sun.
