Advantages of the unitary system :

• The biggest feature of the unitary system is that all the political powers of the entire state are in the hands of a single central government. In this system, there is no sharing of powers between the national government and the regional government. In this way, the principle of one nation one policy works and the central government gets help in implementing all its schemes in the whole country.
• In a unitary system, there is only one centre of power and there is no dispute of powers between the centre and the states. Residents of the whole country take advantage of all the schemes equally. Many centres of power are not created.

Disadvantages of Unitary System :

• This system lays more emphasis on the dictatorial system. Gradually, when there is power in the hands of the centre, the centre itself becomes paramount. Different states have different cultures, in such a situation the conflict of ideas between the centre and the states gives rise to disputes.
• A unitary system is suitable in a small country like the United Kingdom, because there are no large states, while in a large country like China, the unitary system gives rise to dictatorial tendencies and disputes because there are many large states, which are under one centre. Can't work
