merits of democracy-----Merits of Democracy. ... In a democracy, the principles of liberty and equality are very important factors, because it is only the people, who possess the right of vote for selecting their representatives entrusted with powers to run the government of the state. In a democracy, all are equal before law.°°

demerits of democracy----::::-- Democracy is an ideal in which everyone has an equal voice in the decision making.

Defects arise because of specific country’s implementations of democracy, and especially having to do with democracy at large scale.

It’s easy to imagine 20 people sitting around a table and having equal chance to be heard and have a voice in decision making.

But as the numbers get into the millions, the democratic ideal becomes impractical. So, most countries have implemented representative democracies - where the general population elects a small number of representatives.

Many defects occur through the rules and process around selecting representatives, and the way they interact and communicate with each other and the people they represent.

Those are not the fault of ‘Democracy’ but the fault of that implementation of a representative democracy.
