Doctrone of lapse was the parr of british expansion policy in india by unfair means .
it is introduced by lord dalhousie . according to this if any ruler is died without having natural heir(son ) his adopted can be use his fathers only private property but cannot be continue in the rulling and this territory will under the under of british .
the merits were only for the britishers as they were increase their territorial power but for many rulers who influence by this was demerits as they where adopted
for example when the ruler of jhansi died his adopted son anand rao cant be continued his fathers rulling and it were one of the causes of firstcwar of indeoendence i.e 1857
