merits of henry Mosleys mordern periodic table

Answer
Mosley’s table is the standard periodic table that we now use and has a number of advantages over the original Mendeleev table. Mendeleev idea was to arrange by atomic mass and Mosley’s by atom number. Ordering by mass creates some problems, for example Iodine has a lower atomic mass than Tellurium and should come before Te…however, in order to arrange the columns by chemical similarity, I must be occur under Br, and hence after Te. The Mosley table (originally developed in 1913) correct anomalies like this, even though Mosley didn’t know why and came up with the arrangement we use today.
We now understand this arrangement in terms of orbital filling and valency. From the Mosley table, one can more or less read off the electronic arrangement of an atom on the table and understand its bonding properties and chemistry. It’s not as easy with the Mendeleev table and likely the reason we no longer use the Mendeleev table apart from studying its historical significance in the development of our modern understanding of chemical and atomic structure.
