In ON KILLING A TREE the poet  Gieve Patel wants to convey the message that it takes million of years for a small plant to grow into a huge tree consuming the earth crust , its base is very strong and you can't take it out easily . So respect all plants and trees and nourish it with love and affection . Do not  clear it.
