Explanation:

Christmas is all about the eternal Son of God humbling Himself to ‘become flesh and dwell among us’ (John 1:14). He didn’t come here on a holiday from Heaven, but ‘to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many’ (Mark 10:45). He came to restore to us the God-given life that had been lost through the disobedience and rebellion of our forefather, Adam. His mission was proclaimed a total success through His amazing resurrection from the dead at the conclusion of His brief 33-year period of ‘dwelling among us’ (John 1:14).

During every moment of His sojourn among us, Jesus was constantly focused upon His goal of rescuing mankind from sin and death. Nothing diverted Him. Nothing stopped Him.

Jesus brought light into a dark world and, as we look forward to Christmas, we encourage all in our community to, as Matthew says, ‘…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.’

As students leave us at the end of 2017, we pray that they can be encouraged and inspired by the Spirit of selflessness and humility that Jesus, the incarnate Son of God displays for us in the story of Christmas.
