Nitrobenzene on reaction with Sn/HCl ( tin and hydrochloric acid) will produce phenylammonium ions and water. ... Sodium hydroxide is then added to the solution due to which the hydrogen ion gets removed from the NH3+ group, thus resulting in the formation of phenylalanine.
