Answer:

CHEMICAL PROPERTY OF METAL-

  • Usually have 1- 3 electrons in their outer shell
  • Lose their Valence electron easily
  • Form oxides that are basic
  • Are good reducing agent
  • Have lower electronegativities.

CHEMICAL PROPERTY OF NON METAL -

  • Usually have 4 - 8 electrons in their outer shell
  • Gain or share valence electron easily
  • Form oxides that are acidic
  • Are good oxidizing agent
  • Have higher electronegativities.

Answer:

Chemical properties of metal:-

  • The density of metals is usually high.
  • Metals are malleable and ductile.
  • Metals form an alloy with other metals or non metals.
  • Some metals react with air and corrode. For example :- Iron.
  • Metals are in a solid state at room temperature. Expect for Mercury. Mercury is in liquid state.
  • Metals produce metal oxide and hydrogen gas while reacting with water.
  • Soluble metal oxide dissolve in water and create metal hydroxide.

Chemical properties of non metal :-

  • Non metals are poor conductor of heat and electricity.
  • Non metals are not malleable and ductile.
  • They react with other non metals in high temperature. But not react witj air at room temperature.
  • They react with metals more than non metals.
  • White phoporous is only non metal that react with air to form its oxides by burning.
  • They do not form alloy. However, non metals like carbon, silicon.
  • Different non metals have different reaction. They have a low density.
