Non-metals do not displace hydrogen from dilute acids is because unlikemetals, non-metals do not have a tendency to lose electrons but to gain electrons. ... These electrons, whichare readily lost by reactive metals like sodium, potassium etc are accepted by hydrogen ions of the acids, reducing them to hydrogen gas (H2).

Explanation:
Non-metals cannot supply electrons to convert H^+ to H2 gas whereas metal can give electrons to H^+ to convert it into H2.
