Metal hydroxide are better alternative than sodium hydrogen carbonate for treatment of acidity because metal hydroxide is insoluble and hence it does not allow the PH to increase above neutral .
Hydrogen carbonate is very much soluble and its excess can make the stomach alkaline and it can produce even more acid inside the stomach .
