Explanation: when metal reacts with acid , salt and hydrogen gas are produced. this ultimately reduces the volumes of the chemical being contained. As well as this, acid is a highly corrosive substance with the to eat away at most materials.

Metal Stoppers are not used to store acids in laboratory because
- Acids are generally very corrosive and reactive in nature. It is an extreme possibility that when an acid is stored in any metal stopper it would react with that and eventually result in formation of some salts and oxides.
- This is one of the major reasons why acids are not stored in metal stoppers instead they are kept in plastic containers as they are very resistant to action of strong acids.
