Metallic pans used for cooking usually have wooden or plastic handles bcoz they are poor conductors of heat. The plastic used to make the handle is called as thermosetting plastic. It doesn't melt on heating instead it hardens. If the metal pan has metal handle itself when we touch it our hand will get burned. As it's a good conductor of heat .
