metalloids

the elements which which possess the properties of both metals and nonmetals are called metalloids. for example, boron ,silicon, tellurium ,germanium ,areseni and antimony.silicon is the second most abundant element present on the earth's crust after oxygen. pure silicon is too reactive to be found in free state in nature .It is found as silica (combined with oxygen )in almost all rocks as well as in sand clay and soil .It is also found as silicates (combined with oxygen and other elements)

Alloys

alloy that is a heterogeneous mixture of two or more metals or a metal and a non-metal, find immense applications due to better characteristics than the individual metals. an alloy is usually made by mixing metals in their molten state.
