Aluminum reacts with diluted hydrochloric acid at room temperature. The metal aluminium dissolves in hydrochloric acid, producing aluminum chloride and colorless hydrogen gas.

Zinc reacts rapidly with hydrochloric acid to form zinc chloride and hydrogen gas.  It is a single displacement reaction where zinc metal displaces the hydrogen to form hydrogen gas and zinc chloride. The reaction involved is:

Zn (s)+HCl(aq)→ ZnCl2(aq)+H2(g)
