metals are good conductor of heat nd electricity but non metals are bad conductor of heat nd electricity

metal:type of solid substance that is usually hard and shiny and that heat and electricity can travel through

विद्युत तथा ताप का अवशोषक कठोर चमकीला ठोस पदार्थ, धातु

non metal: an element or substance that is not a metal

hope it helps u mark me as a brain list plz thdx

Definition -

Metals : metals are malleable and ductile elements which are good conductor of heat and electricity

Examples : gold, silver, copper etc.

Non metals : non metals are the elements which are neither malleable is not ductile they are brittle non metal do not conduct heat and electricity.

Examples : carbon sulphur hydrogen etc.

Properties

Metals

  • metals are malleable and can be hammered to make thin sheets.

  • Metals are ductile and can be drawn into thin wires.

  • Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity.

  • Metals are lustrous. Metals are usually strong.

  • Metals are sonorous.

  • Metals are generally hard (except sodium) .

  • Metals react with oxygen to form metal oxide.

  • Metals are basic in nature.

  • When a metal reacts with water then metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas are formed

Non metals

  • Non metals are non malleable they are brittle.

  • Non metals are not ductile and hence they cannot be drawn into thin wires.

  • Non metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity (Exceptional diamonds, graphite).

  • Non metals are not lustrous (except iodine)

  • Non metals are not strong.

  • Non metals are not sonorous.

  • most of the solid non metals are quite soft (except diamond)

  • Non metals react with oxygen to form non metal oxide. Non metal oxide are acidic in nature.

  • Non metal do not react with water.
