Most of the metals are generally hard.They are solid at room temperature. But all the metals are not equally hard. Hardness varies from metals to metal. Metals cannot be cut with knife. But they can be beaten into thin sheets and drawn into thin wires.

There are some exceptions, Sodium and potassium are the soft metals which can easily be cut with a knife.
