Hydrogen atoms require electorons in order to become stable
Metals lose electrons. So metals which are more reactive than hydrogen can force the hydrogen atom to accept the electrons. Hence they react with acids.
Non metals gain electron. They themselves need electrons to become stable. Therefore they cannot provide the necessary electrons to the hydrogen atom. Hence they don’t react with acids.
