What is Metaphor?

Metaphor is a figure of speech in Literature in which a word is added to a thing or an action which isn't applicable to it.

Some Metaphorical lines on life -

  • Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep the balance you must keep moving.

  • Life is drawing without an eraser.

  • Life is a garden made richer to those who have nurtured our spirits and touched our hearts.

  • Life is like a huge climb on mountain but the view is great.

Let's see, What exactly is Metaphor?

A Figure of speech, in short, is departure from ordinary form of any expression, so as to produce a greater effect in any lines of the poem.

Metaphor:

Metaphor is nothing but an implied simile. It doesn't actually state that one thing is like another or acts as another.

Let's see an example.

When we say "He fought like a brave lion", we use simile, but when we say "He was a brave lion in the fight", we use metaphor.

Now, Question is to write metaphorical lines on life.

Answer:

1. Life is a journey from birth to death.

2. Life is a flowing river.

3. Life is a drama full of tragedies and comedies.
