Methanogens do not produce oxygen

Methanogens are anaerobic. They do not utilize Oxygen. Their sole source of energy is carbon dioxide and hydrogen. 

These organisms are known as methanogens or lithotrophs since they can only produce energy by process known as Methanogenesis. 

Methanogens are usually found anerobic enviornment only such as marshland, swamps, cattle rumen, sewage etc.
